About The Event

The season of Lent is almost here! Lent, which actually means spring, is a season of reflection, renewal, and preparation for the celebration of Resurrection at Easter. During this season, we encourage you to consider what activities you would like to adopt that bring you closer to God, and which ones are leading you away from God and need to be weeded out. To help you along your journey, we will have devotional booklets available, as well as calendars with different activities that you can do each day.

The season begins, though, with Ash Wednesday. While it may seem like a somber day, I like to think of it as a healthy reality check: we all came from the dust of the earth, and one day we will return to the earth as dust. Given that reality, the question becomes about how I would like to spend this time that God has given me and how I would like to spend eternity once my time is done? The answer for me is always with the Grace of Jesus the Christ.

To help us with that reality check, Christians have traditionally received ashes on Ash Wednesday. This year, we will offer two opportunities to receive ashes. Pastor Dave will offer Ashes to Go at the Somerset Hills YMCA from 6 - 8:30a, and then we will hold a special Wednesday evening service at 7p in our sanctuary and online. I pray that you will make time to join us for one of these opportunities to begin our Lenten journey remembering that it is from ashes that we come and to ashes we will return.
