United Methodist Black College Fund
This fund helps support 12 Black Colleges historically related to United Methodism.
Seminaries and Ministerial Education
This fund supports ministerial recruitment and education for 13 United Methodist-related
theological schools within the United States.
World Service/Conference Benevolence's
World Service is Bishop Jane's portion of the Conference's share of the basic support
for the national and worldwide mission of the United Methodist Church.
Africa University Advance
This assessment supports the United Methodist Church's plan to build Africa University in Zimbabwe.
Brooklyn Methodist Hospital
The Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is a teaching hospital, which provides medical services
to 150,000 patients a year.
Christian Approach to Urban-Suburban Encounter (CAUSE)
CAUSE is a ministry that links churches in Jersey City with suburban congregations.
United Methodist Homes of New Jersey
The mission of the United Methodist Homes of New Jersey is to serve the physical,
mental and spiritual needs of persons 65 or older residing in the New Jersey area
of the United Methodist Church.
Richmond Fellowship
The Richmond fellowship is a halfway house for recovering psychiatric patients.
Morristown Memorial Hospital Chaplaincy
Morristown Memorial Hospital, through the Department of Pastoral Care,
offers the services of Chaplains to patients, their families, and to staff.
Ridge Oak Care Fund
Ridge Oak is a community designed for senior citizens of low or moderate income.
The fund helps provide needed health care services.
Somerset County Chaplaincy Council
The Chaplaincy Council is an ecumenical organization which ministers to the spiritual,
emotional and physical needs of prison inmates and their loved ones.
Pastor's Discretionary Fund
The purpose of this fund is to provides the Pastors of Bishop Janes Church
with financial resources to help individuals in the community who need assistance in time of crisis.
Community Association for Ministry to People - Youth Development Program (CAMP-YDP)
CAMP-YDP is a multi-facetted project which meets the needs of inner city families in Paterson.
Bernards Township Municipal Alliance (Scope Team),
Last Blast Graduation Party, Bernardsville
The graduating class or Ridge High School and Bernardsville High School
are offered several drug and alcohol free activities throughout their senior year.
Somerset Hills Fellowship of Churches
The Somerset Hills Fellowship of Churches provides a common focus
for the churches of the Somerset Hills on issues of concern.
Aldersgate Camperships for Children
In order to ensure that children and youth from the Northern New Jersey Conference
area can attend camping programs at Camp Aldersgate, this project funds camperships,
which pay the camp fees for individual children.
IHN of Somerset County is an interfaith ministry that provides shelter,
meals and assistance to homeless families and single women.
Dozens of religious congregations throughout Somerset County unite
in providing support with overnight accommodations
and donations of food and household goods.
Counseling is provided at the Day Center in Somerville, N. J.
Food Bank Network of Somerset County
This Food Bank distributes food collected by various religious and other organizations
to the disadvantaged and elderly who would not otherwise have enough to eat.
Plainfield Second Street Youth Center
The center provides urban youth with recreational, cultural and vocational activities.
Somerset County Chaplaincy to the Elderly
This chaplaincy provides spiritual sustenance to residents in nine nursing homes in Somerset County.
Middle Earth
Middle Earth is a youth counseling service, which provides a 24-hour hot line telephone facility
to aid runaway youth, potential runaway youth, and parents.
Somerset Hills Hospice
The Hospice provides a way for patients with terminal illnesses to die with dignity.
Training Inc
This program, which is administered by the Community and Continuing Education Area
of Essex County College in cooperation with The Institute of Cultural Affairs,
is designed to train inner city adults (mainly single women) to be able to get
and hold jobs as secretaries and other entry level office workers.
Northern New Jersey Conference Student Loan Fund
This fund provides scholarships to United Methodist Youth to help with college expenses.
The Market Street Mission
For nearly 102 years the Market Street Mission has provided hope for the needy
and a structured environment for the unfortunate and homeless people of the Morristown area
Appalachian Service Project
The Appalachian Service Project provides an opportunity for Families or individuals
from many Churches to help the people of Appalachia to repair their homes.
Church Builders Plus
When local churches have need of help with their physical plant,
help is available through a fund established by Northern New Jersey Conference Churches.
Red Bird Missionary Conference
Red Bird Missionary Conference consists of several programs comprising an outreach ministry
to the people of Appalachia.
Flying Mission-Steve and Gail Quigg
The Quigg's are now training pilots in the United States for Missionary work around the world.
Aldersgate Center
Aldersgate Center is a multipurpose facility, which was established as an outreach ministry
of all of the churches in the Northern New Jersey Conference.
Matheny School
Matheny School provides educational opportunities to youth and young adults who are physically handicapped.
Campus Ministry (Wesley Foundation)
This program provides chaplains and programs to minister to the spiritual needs of college students.
Heifer Project
Heifer project enlists organizations such as the Bishop Janes Sunday school to raise money
to purchase a cow to send to developing countries around the world.
United Nations International Children's Fund (UNICEF)
UNICEF emergency assistance includes the provision of medical supplies and equipment,
essential drugs including vaccine, oral re-hydration salts, drinking water, shelter materials,
clothing, blankets, soap, and cooking utensils, as well as seeds and tools.
Lee Memorial Mission
The Lee Memorial Mission is a boarding school for girls in India.
Nave Technical Institute
Nave Technical Institute is a Boarding School for boys in India.
African University
The United Methodist Church has founded Africa University, in Zimbabwe
to help educate the future leaders of the continent.
Home and Family Life Mission
This project is training families in Malaysia (See map below) to grow, harvest,
and prepare food, especially rice, more efficiently.
New Jersey Council of Churches
The New Jersey Council of Churches is a lobbying organization that makes the opinions of the churches
known to the state legislature.
Library Luncheons
The Bernards Township Library and the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church sponsors
a Leisure Learning program for senior citizens. Bishop Janes Church provides the location and serves meals.
Friendly Visitor Program
This is a caring ministry of visitation to elderly shut-in members of the congregation
as well as regular visits to several nursing homes.
Basking Ridge Fire Company Christmas Decorations
Each year, the Basking Ridge Fire Company decorates the center of town with lights and trees.
Risingville Work Project
The Risingville Work Project is a youth work fellowship opportunity,
which aids the residents of the Risingville, NY, area in repairing their homes.
The Samaritan Homeless Interim Program (SHIP)
SHIP is a community agency that secures emergency housing and associated services
for homeless families and individuals in Somerset County.
